How to choose a domain name?

A domain name is a unique address that is used to point to a website ip address. Because web hosting ips are numbers, we use domain names to make it easier to identify urls or u…. R…. L….

The most common top level domains are .com for commercial, .net for network, .org for organization, .edu for education and .co for corporation.

While these tld definitions are not always adhered to it is good to understand when choosing your website domain name.

In choosing a domain name, ensure that it aligns with your company name or branding. For example, my company is Tehilla Media so our domain name of choice was ” tehillamedia.com ” and our Caribbean services are located at ” tmcaribbean.com “.

I usually recommend using .com as it is the first tld people use when searching for a website address.

Sometimes, the name you prefer is already taken, in this case, try adding your country code or something unique to your brand such as “mycompanytt.com” or “mycompany868.com”.

If you do find your domain name available, I always recommend buying and keep it even if for later use as some companies buy random names and resell them at exorbitant prices.
